Our delegates' safety is important to us!

We have made this page to inform you about COVID 19 and the geopolitical situation in the world. Today, Estonia is a safe country for travelling.

COVID-19 safety measures for the BNC PRM 2022 Conference

As of April 3, 2022, all restrictions in Estonia have been lifted. Wearing a face mask and having a COVID passport is not compulsory at the moment. We cannot guarantee the same situation in July, but hopefully, it will stay the same!

Please note that some European countries and airlines still require COVID passports and face masks so please check the requirements on their websites.

We recommend getting COVID-19 insurance to include travel arrangements and health issues.

The Government of the Republic in cooperation with the Scientific Advisory Board does a weekly assessment of the virus risk in Estonia, updates the list of countries with a high infection rate and changes the procedure of entry into Estonia as is necessary. You can stay up to date with the changes regarding travelling to and conduct in Estonia here. In the event, any necessary safety measures will be taken based on the requirements of the government and the infection rate in Estonia.

If you have any questions or specific testing requirements for returning home after the conference, please contact the Delegate Services via bncprm2022@publicon.ee.

COVID-19 PCR TESTING IN TARTU

If you need to take a PCR test before returning to your home country, the medicine lab SYNLAB is happy to help you.

In order to give a sample, you must book the appointment at least 1-2 days before – unfortunately, we cannot guarantee available appointments if booked any later than that.

You will get the test result within 24 hours of testing. The results will be emailed to you in an encrypted email. All the details for that will be collected from you at the testing centre.

Please notice that the testing method for COVID-19 in our lab is the Nucleic acid amplification test (real-time RT-PCR).
In SYNLAB we use 2 ways to collect a coronavirus sample: sampling from pharyngeal washings or sampling from the nasopharynx. If you choose to give a sample from pharyngeal washings, then we kindly ask you not to eat, drink, smoke, chew gum and brush your teeth 1 hour before giving the sample.

How to book an appointment:

1. call SYNLAB customer support at 17123 (when calling from abroad +372 640 8231) (Mon-Fri 8-18)

2. write to klienditugi@synlab.ee

Corona testing in Tartu takes place at Raatuse 21, 1st floor, entrance from the side of the building.

Sampling Mon-Fri 13:00–17:30, Sat-Sun 09:00–13:00

When you come to the sample collection point, please bring an identity document you use when travelling and please wear a face mask.

The cost of the corona test with the certificate is 47€, which can be paid at the testing centre by card or in cash.

THE RUSSIAN INVASION OF UKRAINE IS NOT A REASON TO CANCEL YOUR TRIP TO ESTONIA

Western allies have sanctioned Russia. It is extremely important that driven only by mistrust, we do not extend it and sanction each other in a hidden form. If we become too sceptical, cancelling travel plans and reservations now, we reduce our contacts and create unnecessary hardship for allies' economies – not because of the threat of war, but only because of fear.

There is no travel warning about visiting Estonia, other Baltic states or Nordic countries, all of which are located near Russia (e.g. official travel advisories by the USGermany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock invites German visitors to spend their holiday in the Baltic StatesFinnish and Estonian ministers of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä and Andres Sutt promoting travelling to Estonia and Finland).

A holiday or business trip maintains direct contact among people, relieves mistrust and tension, and makes a direct contribution to improving the economy and security situation all over Europe.

Estonia is in Northern Europe

  • Estonia is the northernmost of the Baltic states, located only 80 km from Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

  • Currently, there is no military threat to Estonia. The war is going on just as far away from Estonia as from many other European countries. For example, it is about 1300 km from Tallinn to Kyiv – exactly like from Berlin to Kyiv or from Vienna to Kyiv.

Estonia is a member of the most powerful international organisations

  • Estonia is a member of the European Union and NATO since 2004, a member of the Schengen area since 2007, a member of OECD since 2010 and a member of the euro area since 2011. In May 2020, Estonia chaired the UN Security Council for the first time.

  • Estonia is also recognized by tourism organisations at the international level. Visit Estonia is a member of the board of the European Travel Commission (ETC) and chairs the ETC marketing group.

There are no obstacles to the connections between Estonia and the Western world

  • This summer, there are direct international flights to 50 destinations from Tallinn Lennart Meri airport. For example, for the first time in history, we have 4 regular routes from Italy: Rome, Milan, Naples, and Venice.

  • Ship traffic between Tallinn and Helsinki is frequent: big passenger ships sail between Tallinn and Helsinki almost every hour. A big passenger ship sails between Tallinn and Stockholm every other day. In March, 375,000 passengers travelled on these ships.

  • We have comfortable and quick bus connections with Latvia and Lithuania and several tour operators offer Baltic tours.

  • Tallinn, Tartu and Helsinki created a cross-border system that provides comfortable public transport ticket purchase options in all three cities.

  • Nearly 200 cruise ships both from Europe and America are coming to Estonia this season.

Estonia is a reliable and desirable venue for international events

  • Numerous international conferences for professionals will be organized in Estonia this year, several each month – among them many different medical and cyber research conferences etc.

  • Also, many TOP-priority events in the international event calendar will take place in Estonia, such as Orienteering World Cup and European Orienteering Championships, World Field Archery Championships, and FIA World Rally Championship round Rally Estonia etc.
